Therapeutic plasma exchange (plasmapheresis)

For patients in critical condition who - resulting from the state of their health - cannot be transported, bedside plasma exchange is available if needed. During the process, the plasma fraction of the blood is removed and substituted with human albumin, or human fresh frozen plasma (FFP) - depending on the disease the treatment is meant to cure. Common indications for plasma exchange are: * Guillain-Barré syndrome * Extreme hyperlipidaemia * Autoimmune disorders such as autoimmune vasculitis * TTP and Moskowitz syndrome * Myasthenia gravis crisis, etc.
